machinist.
In this presentation, we build littlemachineshop.com's oscillating
cylinder steam
or compressed air engine kit. This kit is outstanding for several reasons; it's very inexpensive, it requires only basic machinist techniques to build, and the principles behind its operation can easily be applied to more complex projects. (see the twin cylinder engine on the left...)

The cylinders can have their angle varied between 90 - 180 degrees for different power characteristics!
(This is a personal project included as an example of what you might design based on this engine! Almost anything is possible!)
